
In 2006 the Windsor Spitfires Foundation was formed.
This foundation brings together the many contacts and fundraising ideas that have evolved throughout the years.
"Enhancing Lives, Improving Our Community" is not just our slogan, but a way of life.
The foundation has many different events throughout the year.
Some of the planned events include an annual Golf Tournament, Fashion Show, Celebrity Autograph Sessions, Memorabilia Auctions and a Kids Street Hockey Game, just to name a few.
The main focus shall be to support local children’s charities, although any charity is invited to apply for funds.
The foundation is works in partnership with the NHLPA to provide free hockey equipment and registration money to children who would normally be unable to play hockey without this support.
Of course none of this fund raising can happen without your support, so we thank you very much.

What is the BIG MATCH – COMMUNITY CHALLENGE?
This is an exciting new initiative that is a joint venture between the Windsor Spitfires Foundation and the United Way in partnership with The Windsor Star.
What is the focus of the BIG MATCH – COMMUNITY CHALLENGE?
The focus is two-fold:
- To create a greater awareness of how the United Way brings the community together to set priorities and take action towards meaningful change.
- To increase the number of donors at the Leadership Giving level. Your investment in United Way is an investment in our community.
What is Leadership Giving?
Leaders create lasting results.
Leaders are individuals who step forward and make a financial commitment at a level that sets a benchmark for others to follow. Thanks to the Big Match - Community Challenge, that commitment can be doubled.
Leadership Giving is an annual donation of $1,000 or more – or $19.23/pay based on 52 pay periods - or a little more than $2.50/day.
How does the BIG MATCH – COMMUNITY CHALLENGE relate to Leadership Giving?
The Windsor Spitfires Foundation, along with other community caring organizations, have established a pool of funds. For each new dollar donated to the United Way that brings your contribution to $1,000 or more, or each new Leadership dollar over the previous year’s Leadership donation, will be matched from the above pool of funds.
What are the anticipated benefits of this initiative?
Every dollar that qualifies means two dollars will now be available to invest in programs and services that have a lasting impact. United Way has a track record of ensuring every dollar significantly impacts people of Windsor – Essex.
Where else can a $1.00 donation turn into $2.00? Kindly consider being a new/increased Leadership Giver this year and assist in doubling the benefits to our area. An investment in United Way is an investment in our community.
